History
Jeff Slocum founded Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, Inc. in 1986. Since inception, Jeffrey Slocum & Associates has been providing investment consulting services to institutional fund sponsor clients, almost all of which are U.S.-based, tax-exempt institutions. Jeffrey Slocum & Associates is an independent firm, with Jeff Slocum as the sole shareholder since 1995.
Slocum has two Strategic Advisors, Jim DeWolfe and Nick Carn. These individuals collaborate with Slocum staff on asset class and manager research, particularly in alternatives like hedge funds, real assets, and private equity, strategic and tactical asset allocation, and discussions of items of topical interest. Strategic Advisors are featured at Slocum client conferences, and are available for special purpose client meetings.
Jim DeWolfe is a Managing Member of Northside Capital Management. Before joining Northside, Jim spent five years at Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco as a Partner and Head of Capital Markets . There he was responsible for the origination, structuring, timing, execution and distribution of over 100 transactions for micro, small and mid-cap companies across technology, healthcare and consumer sectors. Jim served on the firm’s Management and Capital Commitment Committees, was Co-Director of Private Equity Placements, and Principal of the Private Equity Group. Prior to joining Thomas Weisel, Jim spent thirteen years at Morgan Stanley in New York City as Head of Whole Loan Mortgage Trading Desk, and in San Francisco as primary fixed income coverage officer for many of the largest and most sophisticated institutional investors in the Western U.S.
Nicholas D.P. Carn is currently a Partner at Odey Asset Management in London, and provides asset allocation consulting advice to two Asian central banks. Prior to joining Odey, Nick was the Chief Investment Officer in the Global Asset Allocation Group of Alliance Capital, which purchased his own investment management firm, Draycott Partners, in the late 1990s. After his graduation from Oxford University, he started his career at CIGNA International Investment Management, where he rose to the position of Managing Director of International Equities.
