Investment Manager Research

We offer investment manager research as a stand alone service to organizations that are not interested in the full suite of services included in our standard full service retainer. We have found this service to be most useful to family offices, independent investment advisors, and larger organizations looking to supplement and/or support the work already being done by their internal staff dedicated to investments.

Our investment management research is based on the premise that identifying exemplary managers is not a science. It requires a constant presence in the investment management community and resources committed to general research. We have identified characteristics that we believe make managers successful and those characteristics which may be early warning signs of forthcoming trouble. Our primary goal is to assess the existence and extent of a manager's competitive advantage and to determine if this advantage is sustainable. We are acutely aware of all the pitfalls of running a successful investment management business, and watch for signs of these pitfalls constantly.
