Jeff Slocum launched the firm that bears his name in 1986, after several years as a Senior Consultant with Merrill Lynch
capital markets' institutional investment consulting group. He began his professional life as Director of Annual Giving at Carleton College,
and the experience has engendered in him a lasting affinity
for the non-profit world.
Jeff's financial career began as a Strategic Planning
Analyst for Continental Illinois National Bank of Chicago.
Jeff earned a Master of International Management degree from
the American Graduate School of International Management, as
well as an MBA from the University of Chicago.
He has over two decades of experience in institutional
investments and is a founding member of the Independent
Consultants Cooperative (ICC). Jeff serves on the

KC Connors, CFA, CAIA, Principal
KC joined Slocum in 1995 and she has
been in the investment industry since 1988. KC has
expertise in plan consolidation and mergers, risk budgeting,
liability-driven investing, and alternative investments as
they apply to operating, foundation and pension assets.
KC is a member of the firm's Executive Committee and acts as
liaison to the Slocum Hedge Fund Team. KC is a frequent
presenter on the topics of alternative investments, the
unique challenges of healthcare investment programs, and
financial/liability strategies, and co-authored
Risk Factors, which was published in the June
2005 issue of HFM, Healthcare Financial
Management Association magazine.
Prior to joining Slocum, KC worked at Wyatt Investment Consulting, Ennis Knupp Associates
(both in Chicago) and Comerica in Detroit. As a
consultant, KC managed client relationships, created
investment policy statements, advised on asset allocation
and selection of investment managers, and monitored
investment performance. At Comerica KC performed
quantitative securities analysis and research.
KC received her
undergraduate degree in Decision Sciences from Indiana
University, holds an MBA (with Honors) from the University
of Chicago, is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder

Meggan O’Shea, CFA, Principal
Meggan has contributed vital leadership to all aspects of
our consulting practice since joining the firm in 1994.
Meggan has expertise in working with healthcare, insurance,
and retirement (both defined benefit and defined
contribution) assets. She has also assisted clients with
asset liability studies, liability-driven investing
strategies, establishing direct alternative investment
programs and educating their Investment Committees and
Boards on a wide variety of topics. Meggan is a member of
Slocum's Executive Committee.

Group in commercial lending. Meggan received her

Christopher Tschida, CFA, Principal
Chris joined Jeffrey Slocum & Associates in 1995 and
has been in the financial industry for 16 years. After
starting at Slocum supporting client service efforts, Chris
became involved in the firm's research efforts, ultimately
leading the alternative investments and global equity
research groups. Chris currently consults with our
largest insurance and healthcare clients, and continues to
act as liaison for our global equity research team, as well
as spearheading our use of CMS BondEdge. Chris is a member
of Slocum's Executive Committee.

in the accounting industry. Chris received his undergraduate

Paul Wick, CFA, Sr. Consultant &
Dir./Research Op.
Paul, joined Slocum as analyst in 1998 and has over 15
years of investment experience. Paul leads a number of
client relationship while more recently adding the firm's
Director of Research Operations to his Senior Consultant responsibilities.
Paul has assumed a variety of roles in his years at Slocum -
both in relationship management and research. Paul
directed our fixed income research team for the majority of
his tenure at the firm. This included both broad market and
specific investment manager research.
Prior to joining Slocum, he held positions in
asset/liability analysis with Moore, Juran & Company,
portfolio administration at Voyageur Asset Management, and
institutional fixed income sales with Prudential Securities.

Deborah Weiss, CFA, Senior Consultant
Deb joined the Slocum team of consultants in July, 2005 from The Valspar Corporation for which she served as Vice President/Treasurer. At Valspar, Debbie created and chaired the Benefit Plans Investment Committee. Deb spent eight years as the Manager, Benefit Plans Finance at 3M Company, and then became Treasurer at Imation Corp., a $2.3 billion spin-off from 3M. Deb earned her Bachelors degree from Michigan State University, where she was a National Merit Scholar and her MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

Mark Evans, CFA, CPA, Sr Consultant, Compliance

Mark joined Slocum in April, 2002 from Deloitte & Touche LLP, for whom he served
as an Audit Manager in both the Minneapolis and Luxembourg
offices. He also served as a Consulting Manager for the same
firm’s Financial Advisory Services in Minneapolis. At
Slocum he specializes in retirement plan services and the
unique issues facing DB and DC plan clients. Mark
received his BA in Accounting from St. Johns’ University
(MN), earning Departmental Distinction and All-College
Honors in the process. Mark is a Chartered Financial

Andre Boucher, Consultant
Andre has been with Slocum since 2000, starting as an Investment Analyst
before being promoted to Client Service Associate, and now
Consultant. Andre works closely with Slocum senior management on complex client issues, particularly in the health care management area. Prior to joining the firm, Andre worked as an Assistant Financial Consultant for Merrill Lynch, Fenner, and Smith in Minneapolis. Kyle joined Slocum in 2004 and has been in the investment

Robert McReavy, J.D., General Counsel
Bob joined
Slocum in 2007, and has over 26 years of legal and finance
experience. Prior to
joining Slocum, Bob was Treasurer
for Alliant Techsystems, Inc. a $3.5 billion defense and
aerospace contractor. In that role, he was responsible for
all areas of treasury, tax, risk management and pension
investment. While at Alliant, Bob worked with Slocum to
restructure Alliant's $1.7 billion pension plan investments,
diversifying into real estate and hedge funds, including a
significant allocation to direct hedge funds. Bob has
also been a Partner in the international accounting firm of
Deloitte & Touche, Tax Counsel to Deluxe Corporation and
Northwest Airlines, and a Partner in the law firm of Gray,
Plant, Mooty in Minneapolis.
Bob received his undergraduate degree (with high honors) in
accounting and political science from the University of St.
Thomas and passed the CPA exam in 1981. Bob received
his law degree (with high honors) from the Georgetown University Law
Center in 1986.

Vince Altstaetter, Consultant
Vince
joined Slocum in 2006 and has been in the investment
industry since 1998. Vince has a
B.A. in Economics from Carleton College, in Northfield,
Minnesota, an M.B.A. in Finance from Washington
University in St. Louis, and is a Chartered
Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. Vince works
closely with healthcare organizations and insurance assets,

Sean Katof, CFA, Director - Global Equity Research
Sean leads Slocum's research in traditional domestic and
international equity investments. He joined Slocum as
a Research Director in 2005, and has worked in the
investment industry since 1994. Prior to joining Slocum,
Sean managed the Industry Leaders Core Equity portfolio for
Devenir Investment Advisors in Minneapolis. During his nine
years at INVESCO Funds Group he served in a variety of
analyst and portfolio manager roles, including stints as the
portfolio manager for the Real Estate Opportunity Fund and
as co-portfolio manager for the Core Equity Fund.
Sean received his B.S. in Business Administration with an
emphasis in Finance from the University of Colorado at

Pat Coleman, CFA, Director - Fixed Income Research
Pat
joined Slocum in 2007 to lead our research in fixed income
investment strategies. Pat has over 26 years investment
experience. Pat's expertise is in fixed income research
(taxable, tax exempt, investment grade, high yield),
individual credit analysis, financing structuring, and
acquisition financing.
Prior to joining Slocum, Pat worked at Voyageur Asset
Management in Minneapolis, as the Managing Director of Fixed
Income Research. At Voyageur, Pat built the credit research
department from inception, developed the underwriting
procedures, and was responsible for individual security
portfolios. From 1980 to 1993, Pat was Vice President -
Fixed Income Securities at Washington Square Capital. At
WCS, Pat managed both private placement and public fixed
income portfolios and was responsible for investment grade,
high yield, and leveraged buyout fixed income investment
research.
Pat received his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of
Notre Dame, and holds a MBA o- finance from the University
of Minnesota,
Carlson School of Management. Pat is a Chartered Financial Analyst

Sean A. Goodrich, CFA, Strategic Advisor
On October 1st, 2008, Mr. Goodrich and some partners
founded Aether Investment Partners, a fund of funds manager
for Real Assets and related strategies, including real
estate, commodities, natural resources, energy, and
infrastructure investments. From 2003 until the founding of
Aether, Sean was a key contributor to the alternative
investments research effort at Slocum, rising to the
position of Director.
Prior to joining Slocum, Mr. Goodrich was a Capital Markets
Officer in the Fixed Income Division of First Union Securities in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The bulk of Sean's experience comes from Wall Street trading
desks trading and structuring transactions in fixed income,
equity, and derivative securities at
Cantor Fitzgerald and Goldman Sachs.
Mr. Goodrich spent a bit of time outside the investment
industry, performing quantitative analysis of load-bearing
structures for a civil engineering consulting firm that
specialized in municipal and commercial real estate
development projects.
Sean received an undergraduate degree in Business and
Russian from Saint Michael's College in Vermont, and holds
an MBA (with honors) in Investment Management and Real
Estate from the University of North Carolina's Kenan Flagler
Business School in Chapel Hill. Sean also is a Chartered

Texas Hemmaplardh, CFA, Dir
- Capital Markets Res.
Texas joined Jeffrey Slocum & Associates in
1997. He has expertise in capital markets research and
portfolio construction across multiple asset classes,
particularly the integration of alternative investments into
diversified risk-controlled portfolios. Texas is a member
of the firm’s Research Team, leading the Team’s ongoing due
diligence on hedge fund managers. He is also responsible
for Slocum’s Investment Strategy Meetings, which are
quarterly firm-wide forums both for reviewing and discussing
the wide variety of investment challenges our clients face,
and for examining market changes and developments in-depth.
Texas frequently makes presentations to institutional
investors on the unique challenges of due diligence on
alternative investment managers.
Texas has held multiple senior roles during
his tenure at Slocum. He began as Director of Global Fixed
Income Research, which involved expanding the firm’s
research in all areas of fixed income, especially non-U.S.
fixed income instruments and derivatives as well as U.S.
structured products. His research was conducted during a
time of major evolution in fixed income markets which saw
the introduction of many new types of derivatives which
allow investors to target and hedge specific fixed income
risks. Texas has also held the roles of Director of
Alternative Investments and Director of Hedge Fund
Strategies, where he was responsible for private capital,
real assets, and absolute return strategies. He led the
development of Slocum’s proprietary comprehensive database
of private absolute return managers.
Prior to joining Slocum, Texas worked was
Finance Director for GlobaLearn, Inc., a not-for-profit
educational company in Connecticut that was among the first
internet-based educational content providers to public
schools.

Christian Grimm, CFA, Consultant
Chris joined Slocum in 2007 and has been in the
investment industry since 2000. Chris specializes in
consulting on Direct Hedge Fund Strategies and is
responsible for coordinating our communications with hedge
fund clients, as well as facilitating dialogue between our
clients and hedge fund managers.
Prior to joining Slocum, Chris worked for Ludington, Ltd, a
consulting firm in Minneapolis where he performed financial
and strategic analyses related to commercial and
intellectual property litigation, including patent and trade
secret disputes. Chris also worked at the Boston-based
consulting
firm The Michel-Shaked Group for five years. During
this time, Chris developed complex financial models to
measure economic damages for litigation engagements and
performed over 50 valuations of both tangible and intangible
assets, fixed income, equity and derivative securities. He
also co-authored a paper which appeared in the
American Bankruptcy Institute Journal.

Mark Moeller, Consultant
When Mark joined Slocum in 2007, he was a graduate of the
University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business with a
Master of Business Administration degree. He is a
registered securities analyst and investment advisor, a
Level II CFA candidate, Professional Civil Engineer, and a
pilot. Prior to joining the firm, Mark worked as an Equity
Research Analyst for Kopp Investment Advisors, in Edina,
Minnesota; and before that as a Securities Analyst for Feltl
and Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Leif joined Slocum and Associates in 2005 as an investment

Dan joined Slocum in 2005 and has 7 years of investment
experience. Dan has expertise in direct hedge fund and

Slocum, Dan worked at Validus Partners, an expansion stage
venture capital firm. There, he focused on sourcing and

Jim DeWolfe has spent the past twenty-five years as a
professional in the institutional fixed income and equity
capital markets. He is a Managing Principal of Northside
Capital Management, LLC.
Jim spent five years at Thomas Weisel Partners, the San Francisco-based, growth focused investment bank. He was Partner and Head of Capital Markets, with responsibility for originating, structuring and executing transactions in the equity and convertible debt capital markets. Jim was also Co-Head of the Private Equity Placement Group, raising private equity for private companies. Jim served on the Management Committee and the Capital Commitment Committee. Nicholas D.P. Carn, Strategic Advisor
The third Strategic Advisor is Nicholas D.P. Carn. Jeff Slocum has known Nick for twenty years. Oxford educated, Nick was the Managing Director, International Equities at CIGNA International Investment Management, before setting up his own shop, Draycott Partners, which was ultimately purchased by Alliance Capital in the late 1990s. At Alliance, Nick was the Chief Investment Officer in the Global Asset Allocation Group. Nick is currently the partner in charge of global asset allocation at Odey Asset Management, LLP in London, and provides asset allocation consulting advice to two Asian central banks. Slocum clients remember Nick’s presentation at our client conference in 1990 astutely identifying disinflation as the key theme of the 1990s, and his presentation to another Slocum client conference in 2000 on “Bubbleconomics,” in which Nick foretold the severe bear market in equities, even to the point of predicting wide-spread accounting scandals.

David M. Galligan, J.D., Strategic Advisor
From 2002 to 2006, David was President/CEO of Ordway
Center for the Performing Arts, St. Paul, MN. Prior to
heading the Ordway, David spent seventeen years as the Chief
Operating Officer/Treasurer of the Walker Art Center,
Minneapolis, MN, cited by
Business Week
magazine as one of the ten best managed arts institutions in
the U.S. In his years at Walker Art Center, Galligan was
the museum’s chief investment officer, exercising fiduciary
responsibilities with respect to the museum’s $210+ million
endowment and related trusts that funded 40% of annual
operating expenses. In that role, he worked closely with
Walker’s Board of Directors, the museum’s money managers,
and with this firm, which provided and still provides
independent investment counsel to the Board. David has a
long record of achievements for these organizations in areas
of finance, strategic planning, fundraising, and operations
management. David earned an A.B. from Stanford and a J.D.
